Mariam Ali | Karen Boyes

Mariam Ali is the firm's managing and systems partner. Mariam has over 10 years experience and has developed an expertise in a variety of industries. Her areas of special concentration include business consulting, tax planning, and account management primarily for high net worth individuals, closely held businesses, and non-profit organizations. Furthermore, Mariam also focuses on audits of non-public entities and 401(k) plans. Her audit experience includes various industries including retail, manufacturing, non-profit, and service-oriented industries. She is currently also working on forensic examinations and her passion to fight against corporate fraud has allowed her to build her practice to include forensic examinations in the field of accounting.

Mariam is a graduate of Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master's degree in Management Information Systems. Mariam is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).

Prior to starting her own practice, she was employed with a CPA firm mainly managing tax and audit clients. She also worked for a Fortune 500 company in their internal audit department as an internal audit specialist, focusing on internal audits of the company's multiple locations and various small forensic examinations.

Mariam is a member of the IL CPA Society and a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

Karen Boyes is the firm's managing and human resource partner. Karen has over 25 years experience in accounting and over the years has worked closely with clients in a variety of industries. While a large percentage of her business clients are medical practices, she also works with retail businesses, salons, construction/remodeling, rental real estate, etc. Some of the services she provides include business consulting, compiled financial statements, tax planning, and retirement consulting primarily for high net worth individuals, closely held businesses, and non-profit organizations.

Karen is a graduate of University of Illinois at Chicago with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Over the past several years, she held a Certified Financial Planner certificate, but decided to focus her attention instead on building her accounting practice. Karen is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

Prior to starting her own practice, Karen was employed with a local CPA firm and worked with many individuals and closely held businesses to assist them with everyday accounting procedures, tax planning, QuickBooks set-up and training, etc. Roughly 30 years ago, Karen also started a side business of preparing individual income tax returns that eventually fueled her desire to start her own company.

Karen is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
